Select colors in Swatches panel. Choose Save Illustrator colors as ASE (Adobe Swatch Exchange) from panel menu. Create file. Open InDesign. Go to Swatches panel. Choose Load Swatches. Fine the ASE file. TaDa!
That is very helpful but is there not a way that automatically does it as a default or does this then make it happen?
I want the colours used in any vector artwork to register with indesign as a colour, for me then to be to use.
Hope that makes sense
If the Illustrator artwork is placed into InDesign, the colors will automatically be added to the Swatches panel if they are defined as Spot colors. But otherwise, No.
Or create a simple drawing using the colors you want, copy it to the clipboard and paste into ID. This will have the added benefit of adding any gradient swatches which won't work with ASE.
