No problems here using your own text. I don't have the book so can't read it myself but from what you have said, I can see this in DW6:
To get CSS panel, you can also use the short-cut keys: <Shift + F11>
Also, to get header rules, you must have a file opened in the editor to see it. I don't have any files opened so I can't show it to you in the picture. Which particular template you are using (assuming you are using a DW templates)
Which version and build # of DW do you have?
Most books became obsolete shortly after CS6 was released simply because the cloud updates made sweeping changes which books couldn't keep pace with.
With the launch of DW CC in June, futher changes were made to streamline the interface and remove deprecated features such as APDivs, server-behaviors and more...
Your best resources right now are F1 (on line help) and Adobe's tutorials.
Thanks for your answers. The version I'm following is the latest one in the cloud (trial version), which I suppose is the most complete one. After 30 days I am going to register to get InDesign, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, etc. I bought the books thinking that they were my best way to follow the examples, since right now I can't come to class. It is a bit frustrating when the book asks to do something in a menu and you cannot locate the menu or the procedure. I will try F1 and the tutorials. Thanks again.
