How sure are you on your conclusion that Windows 7 Update is keeping your Premiere Elements 9 projects from opening?

I have Premere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 installed on Windows 7 64 bit, all the latest Windows Updates and no problems opening Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 project, old or new.

Are the old and new projects that you can no longer open?

I would suggest that you flush the preferences for the program.

To do that, the route in Windows 7 is:

          Local Disk C

          Premiere Elements

          9.0 Folder

and in the 9.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you specifically delete.

If that does not work, then you delete the whole 9.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Pref file exists.

Make sure that you are working with Folder Options Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the

          complete path described.

If you are dealing only with old projects that will not open, please check out the Adobe document on damaged project troubleshooting and

          go through that systematic troubleshooting.

Make sure that you are working from the 9.0.1 Update of the program.

Please review the above and let us know the outcome.

          Thank you.

Add On...Are you having any problems with 1/2 wmv display? If so, please see announcement at top of this forum. That issue was definitely related to a recent Windows Update kb.

emptying the preferences did not work, neither did a program removal and reinstall. The culpriit was a recent update to the mcAfee real time scanning; turn it off and everything is happy (except McAfee)

Does McAfee have a means to report problems?

Thanks for staying with the troubleshooting.

Great troubleshooting on your side discovering the McAfee update at the core of the issue.

That is a great idea of John T. Smith to see what McAfee customer service/technical service has to say about its update that was the cause of your Premiere Elements issue.

We will be watching for further developments for all the McAfee and Premiere Elements users.

                Thanks again.
