I have also just tried sending the file through Media encoder and it also fails.
You need to provide info on exact render settings, comp settings, what source files were used and so on. just saying that it doesn't work isn't good enough.
What versions of Quicktime have you been trying?
Have you installed any third-party codec packs?
My project settings are set to HDTV 1080 25. Square pixels.
Render setting are format:Quicktime (with and without audio tested) with video codec:none
I have tried rending using these settings for variius older projects that work fine in After effects CS5.5
Its a fresh install.
No codecs installed except standard Quicktime.
I tried 7.7.4 as well as 7.6.6
Try rendering to Quicktime with the PNG codec or the Animation codec.
Here is the solution from your link that helped:
Yet another cause of After Effects and QuickTime failing to communicate is a problem with permissions for files in the After Effects preferences directory. To force After Effects to rebuild the preferences directory and set the permissions correctly (as well as reset any corrupt preferences), quit After Effects, remove the following folder, and then restart After Effects:
- (Mac OS) [drive]/Users/[username]/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/10.0
- (Windows) [drive]Users[username]AppDataRoamingAdobeAfter Effects10.0
After doing this, I am now able to render uncompressed qt.
Thanks for reporting back with what worked for you.
aaaaand I'm back...
Same issue. What worked before is no longer working for a different project now. I try render a heavier scene and it will start rendering the 1st few frames before the same crash report appears. AE does not crash, I just get the error message.
