I have some text that was sent to me from Italy in an IDCS6 file. It is in English, but the spell check keeps checking it as if it were in Italian. I've changed the dictionary to Engilsh USA everywhere I can find, but it still only checks in Italian. Can someone give me a list of what I need to change so that it checks against the English dictionary? I've changed the ID preferences, the Character palette and even in the spell check window (where I select English, but is uses Italian, anyway.) Very odd. Thanks in advance for any help in this.
OK. I think I figured it out. I had to "select all" on each page and change it in the Character palette. Is that correct? There is no way to globally change it? (though I can see where it would be useful when you have text in different languages.)
Yeah, language is a text-level attribute.
(The doc I currently have open in InDesign is, coincidentally, a single page with forty correctly marked instances of "Do you need an interpreter?" in forty different languages. )
