    Extra drives to boost performance

    Davyd Melnyk

I read somewhere that PP and AE can receive considerable performance boosts by using separate drives for various tasks: system, source media, output etc. My question is: will this also help if they are external drives on a fast connection (e.g. USB 3.0) or must they be internal drives? My main reason for asking is to find out if I can get more performance out of my laptop with external HDD/Flash units until such time as I upgrade to a generally newer, faster system. I also need to know if such a new system would have to offer the capability to use enough internal drives. Grateful for any advice.

      Thanks.
