Do you have both a video and an audio track Source Patched, or no tracks at all Source Patched? New in CC, which I find incredibly annoying and have sent an official FR for Adobe to fix, is a behavior whereby Source Patching affects not only default placement of clips drag/dropped to the Timeline, but also what is dropped. For example, if you have a video track that's Source Patched but no Source Patched audio track, no matter how many times you try, you won't be able to drag/drop a clip with audio to the Timeline.
If that isn't what the problem is, then I would need more details. Hope this helps.
I'm not sure if they're Source Patched or not. How can you Source Patch them?
To Source Patch a track, just click on the V1, A1 and/or A2 indicators on the left hand side of the Timeline to highlight them.
In this picture, both the V1 and A1 icons are highlighted, and therefore Source Patched.
If you open a project and don't see these indicators, it's because they appear and dissappear based on what media you have selected. So if you click on an audio clip in the Project window or the Source Monitor, only the A1/A2 indicators will appear, depending on whether the clip is a single stereo clip or two mono clips. If you click on a video only clip, only the V1 indicator appears, and so forth for video+audio clips.
Hope this helps.
Is this what was causing your problem?
Thanks for the help! I think that was it!

In the Help file, I think that you will find more information under "Track Targeting," which might yield some more useful tips.
Glad I could help Brian!
