I want to make a vector shape from a path. Is there a way to bypass having to define a new custom shape? I just want to quickly add the vector shape to a new layer, but I don't need it defined as it'll just be used once.
Sure, if you select the path to make it active, just make a color fill adjustment layer.
There are other ways if that's not what you want.
In photoshop cs6/cc with the path active and one of the shape tools or pen tool selected, press the Shape button
in the tool options bar.

I can't make this happen, not in CS6 nor CC. Clicking the Shape button does nothing. What am I doing wrong?
If you for example, draw a path with the pen tool and then press the Shape button, it doesn't create a shape layer
from the path?
Sorry R_Kelly, I tried it again today and now it works!
Thank you for your patience and efforts. Appreciated!
