i'm having the same problem, trying to accomplish the following:
A VBox container has 2 children. State A shows both, state B shows only the lower one, but it should fill the whole VBox.
Transition from state a to state b should move out the upper child and resize the lower one, but when the animation starts, the upper child is removed immediately. i've made a quick example:

Anyone knows how this transition could be accomplished ?
have you created a transition that from your startState to you destinationState? A transition can define exactly what you would like to happen during a state change.
Are you wanting the top box to "fade out"? Or, are you wanting that box to "resize"?
@Izzy1138 : See example which follows.
You want to incorporate the use of the AddChildAction and RemoveChildAction methods to control when things are happening during a transition. Here is your code, in which I modified the transitions (note that I took the liberty of adding an easing function on the transition to the 'Visible' state, just for fun):
That is perfect. Thanks.
thanks for your help, the Add/RemoveChildActions were exactly what is was looking for! solved
could you be so kind to post the code of your example, the link
does not work anymore.
my problem is that in my testcase it worked, but not in my actual implementation.
thanks for your help !
