Cp7 TTS Dictionary Editor will not open - throws error

In CP6 you could open the VT folder in the Cp6 install folder containing a Neospeech voice, go to the M16/bin folder and open the UserDicEng_[nameOfVoice].exe file to open the User Dictionary Editor and edit the way the TTS voices worked.

In Cp7 the voices and their dictionaries are now NOT located inside the Cp7 install folder but sit on the same level as the Adobe folder inside Program Files at:

C:\Program Files\Adobe Captivate Voices 7 x64\VT\Julie\M16\bin

However, when I try to open the Dictionary Editor for a voice I am given this error message:

This happens with the dictionarise for any of the TTS voices for Cp7.

Can anyone else confirm that this is the case with their installation as well?

Is there a known reason for this error message?

Rod, I have the same error message. I tried it, never used those dictioniaries in CP7 yet (only English available as you know). Same error for all exe-files in that bin directory.

Indeed. Since I never use TTS, it doesn't bother me that much, sometimes I'm a bit egocentric

Interesting that I can edit using the CP6 version of the editor found in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 6 x64\VT\Julie\M16\bin and edit the CP7 userdict_eng.csv found in C:\Program Files\Adobe Captivate Voices 7 x64\VT\Julie\M16\data-common\userdict. But I get the same error if I try to use the editor for CP7.

Hi Rod,
This is a bug with 64 bit voices. Thanks for letting us know. Win 32 bit voices & Mac voices works fine.

Alternatively can you try following and let us know whether it works or not?

1) Install 32 bit Neo Speech voices.
2) Change the user dict csv file with the 32 bit voices exe.
3) Replace the user dict csv present in 64 bit voices with the modified one in step2.
4) Run the 64 bit Captivate should use the updated csv.

Adobe doesn't usually give answers to this type of question.

If you really need to use a dictionary to edit, you'll have to use the workaround suggested above by Sankaram.

The links for downloading the TTS voices are sort of buried in the paragraph of text that starts off saying: Adobe Captivate comes with a wide variety of assets....
