this question has come up before... I don't believe the information can be found anywhere and I don't think any of the Director programmers are going to answer, unfortunately... out of curiosity, what kind of project are you working on?... the only time I've seen this question come up is when building gambling games.
No it's for a physical simulation, but the client is like many : he
likes to ask ennoying questions just to try to let people think he knows
something about programming, or about what he is reselling ;o)
Thank's for your answer, anyway

I find the best solution for dealing with people who are like that is just
to make something up. Or, since he apparently knows the names of several
algorithms, just pick one of the names at random (or program Director to
pick one at random, hehe.) and tell him that's what it is. Unless he's a
mathematical genius with way too much time on his hands, it should be nearly
impossible for him to prove you wrong.
good idea... Honestly, when I goggled those names, I dropped down on a
wikipedia page mentionning them... in the same order !
As soon as I pronounced "wikipedia" in a sentence he suddenly went
thank's for the advice
what you might be able to do is to implement all the random-functions mentioned above and then set the seed and try to see if any of your homemade will give the same result as the lingo-random.
a bit of work but if you do it please let us know. :)
