1. Re: Fuji FinePix HS30 EXR - RAF files won't import into LR5
ssprengel Sep 12, 2013 2:27 PM (in response to StreetwiseCreative)THE HS30 has been supported since LR 4.1 according to the following table from Adobe:
http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
Your student is welcome to upload a file for others to look at to see if something is corrupted, but uploading the file, itself, to dropbox.com and posting the link to a reply, here.
Other possibilities would be the student is using a different, newer model than the HS30 that may need a newer version of LR to support it or it may be so new as to be unsupported, or that they aren’t really running LR 5.0—doing About / Photoshop Lightroom from within LR should help confirm what version is being used.
I guess LR 5.0 could have some bug that makes it unsupported, and then downloading and installing the pre-release LR 5.2 RC from Adobe Labs would help check for that: http://labs.adobe.com/

2. Re: Fuji FinePix HS30 EXR - RAF files won't import into LR5
StreetwiseCreative Sep 12, 2013 4:30 PM (in response to ssprengel)Must be an issue with the lab computer(s). On my MAC, even though I can't see the image with Finder (just see a big "RAF" logo), I can import them with LR5. It even generates thumbnail images before I hit Import. But on the lab computer, it doesn't want to generate the thumbnail images prior to Import. It also is running LR5. It wouldn't be an OSX issue would it? I'm on 10.7.5 LR is V5.0, Camera Raw 8.1 I'll have to see what version of Camera Raw the lab computer has. Then again, because it's running LR5, you would think that Camera Raw would be the latest-greatest too...
Thanks.

3. Re: Fuji FinePix HS30 EXR - RAF files won't import into LR5
ssprengel Sep 12, 2013 10:43 PM (in response to StreetwiseCreative)Camera Raw 8.1 as a code version is what LR 5 has built-in. The Camera Raw 8.1 PLUG-IN has nothing to do with LR, only Photoshop.
You should see what version of LR is actually running when LR is started up. Maybe there are multiple versions installed and an older one is starting up automatically when a memory card is inserted.
LR -> Help / About Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is the command on Windows that shows both the LR version and the version of CR that is built-in to LR.
