Premier elements 11 - title "missing" problem.

    jonno

I am using Premier elements 11 and have found the title set that had the travelling compass is not included and I need this to continue my personal travel DVD series. Is there anyway I can obtain this to merge in my "11" software-please help if you can. I need an easy solution if there is one as I am not a computer whiz. Thankyou. John.

You're talking about Movie Menu templates, right?

Yes, you can copy it over from an older version of the program. How you do this and where you save the file depends on what operating system you're using. On a Windows machine, these files are located in C:/PROGRAM DATA/ADOBE/PREMIERE ELEMENTS/11.0/ONLINE/DVD TEMPLATES/ALL_LANG/[Category].

As I show you in my book, because the program downloads its templates as needed in version 11, you must also copy the DOWNLOADED.TXT from a Movie Menu template you have downloaded to version 11 and paste it into your new template's folder -- otherwise, the program will become confused and will erase your new template!

Are you looking in Premiere Elements 11 Title Templates specifically for the Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 Title Template/Travel/Topo.

If so, I have done a lot of work on that topic. I was successful in doing the task, but unfortunately the user involved was

never able to get the transfer to work as described. So, what worked for me, did not work for him. Please refer to all the

details and graphics in the following thread here.

              Hi

Thankyou for your suggestion, I think it is more difficult for me to do cos I just ain't clever enough. I have a full copy of Premier elements 8 "download content". This worked well as part of elements 8 but when I load the disc into windows 8 it immediately says it is not compatible with elements 11. It does not give me an option to list the content or to create a folder. I will try anything you say but I am nervous of ending up with nothing.I am anxious to get this compass title into my version 11. Thanks again John

No. You can't install the version 8 templates into version 11.

You need to install version 8 and its content on your computer and then move the menu template folder from it to the location I indicated above.

It's a bit intimidating, and I understand if you'd prefer not to do that.

It might be easier to do your editing in version 11, then use Publish & Share/Computer/AVI to output your finished movie -- which can important into version 8 and then create your DVD from it.

                  Thanks for the follow up.

Although I did successfully get the topo title template from Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 to Premiere Elements 11 on Windows 7 64 bit, I was not able to do that with Premiere Elements 11 on Windows 8 64 bit. Please see specifically post 34 in the Adobe thread where the details are gone into in great detail.

In spite of the prior work which was comprehensive, I will try again today to get the topo title template from Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 to Premiere Elements 11 on Windows 8 64 bit.

In all work involving placement of modified Premiere Elements content or a newly created one, I believe that these should be placed in the Program Files path rather than in Online Folder in Program Data route. But all the details and considerations are spelled out in depth in that thread referenced. I have subsequently found other shortcomings of trying to use the Online Folder for this purpose. More on that another time.

I believe that the issue that you and another have presented starts with and goes to the format of the Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 graphic in this specific title template situation.

I will report back before midnight today with my verification of the Windows 8 64 bit situation.

                  Thanks.

                    Hi ATR

Sorry for late reply been away, I want to thankyou for all you have been doing to help me with this Title problem. Because there are so many people wanting this title back why cannot Adobe is a specialised download for us, after all we keep spend good money on good software and don't expect them to take away from us what we have already purchased. A real shame, for me, as a user, who has purchased all the recent sets including 10 only just before I bought 11. I love the software but am frustrated with the title loss.

Once again many thanks for your help

                    Kind Regards

                    Jonn

                        John,

                        In non technical terms Bingo.

I started at the very beginning and got topo into Premiere Elements 11 Windows 7 64 bit successfully as I did and reported in the thread that I have already referenced. Then I took copies of the topo files from Premiere Elements 11 Windows 7 64 bit and transplanted them in Premiere Elements 11 Windows 8 64 bit. This time success. No glitches.

The basic situation is this and confirmed in this second look. The topo title template has two components, the text part represented in the Template Folder's .prtl file. No problem there. But, the other component is the problem. The image part (the compass) is in the tga format which is not being supported in Premiere Elements 11 Windows 7 or 8 64 bit. So, tga files need to be converted from tga to png before everything is put together in Premiere Elements 11.

                        Here is the story.

                        Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1

                        Local Disk C

                        Program Files (x86) Folder

                        Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0 Folder

                        Presets Folder

in the Presets Folder are folders named Logos, Styles, Templates, Text Animation, and Textures.

The Templates Folder contains the Common Folder which contains the Travel Folder which contains the Topo Folder. In that Topo Folder are the .prtl files (text component of the title templates). Everything is very compatible in that Topo Folder.

The Texture Folder contains the Common Folder which contains numerous images for various title templates. Our focus is only those related to topo, that is,

                        topo_bkgd.tga

                        topo_bkgd2.tga

                        topo_frame.tga

                        topo_lower3rd.tga

All these need to be converted from .tga to .png format. I did it with Photoshop.

So, before heading to Premiere Elements 11, this is what you want to have.

*The Travel Folder from the Templates Folder route.

(To keep things in order, I copied the entire PE11-Windows 7 Travel Folder which contained the Topo Folder. All, but the Topo Folder was deleted from the Travel Folder.) Ready to go, based on Desktop.

                        and

*The Texture Folder containing the Common Folder which will contain all the topo.png files.

(To keep things in order, I copied the entire Texture Folder from Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1. Opened its Common Folder, and deleted all the files except the 4 topo .tga ones. I then based that folder on the Desktop - my base of operations for the .tga to .png conversions with Photoshop.) Once, the conversions were completed, I had a Desktop folder ready to go.

Both of the above were transfer to a USB 2.0 Flash Drive for the transfer to Windows 8 64 bit.

                        Now in Premiere Elements 11

                        Local Disc C

                        Program Files

                        Adobe

                        Adobe Premiere Elements 11

                        Presets Folder

in the Presets Folder place the entire *Texture Folder that was prepared (there was no prior Texture Folder under Presets).

                        and

in the Common Folder (in the path Presets/Templates/Common) place the *Travel Folder.

If all else fails, then we can review the do it yourself for this title template that I mentioned in the prior post. But, I am so pleased that I got this to work with Premiere Elements 11 Windows 8 64 bit the way that I got that done with Premiere Elements 11 Windows 7 64 bit.

Please check it out to make sure I have my files and folders going in the right direction.

We will be watching for your results.

                        Thanks.

                          Thanks.

                              Hi HTR

                              Thanks for the added info.

I have created two folders with contents as you say and they are on my desk top.

I have also copied both folders onto a USB widget.

I do not know how to convert the files, I have never done anything like that so if you can advise in a bit more detail I would be grateful.

I know you are busy and if you think I'm a pleb you are probably correct but I am willing to learn.

                              Thanks again

                              Jonno

                                John,

The only files that will need converting are those with the .tga file extension.

You need to import each in Photoshop Elements (or Photoshop if that is what you have). What will you be using?

Then, after import into the photo editor and without editing, go directly to File Menu/Save As and save a copy for your folder as .png.

The .tga files are not compatible with Premiere Elements 11, so you do want the .png version,

not the .tga, for placement in Premiere Elements 11's hard drive folders and files.

As I have indicated in one of those blog posts that I referenced, after all is said and done, there may

be a problem with just the frame and lower3rd ones. The problem seems to be the loss of transparency in the maneuvers. There is a workaround if necessary.

                                More on that later.
