Steve Werner Sep 13, 2013 11:23 AM (in response to Mr_Bimg)Make sure you're downloaded the InDesign CC 9.1 update. It fixes many problems people were having with InDesign CC, including typing speed.

Does the image have tranparency applied to it? Or is transparency applied anywhere else in the document?

4. Re: Typing is delayed in InDesign CC
Mr_Bimg Oct 29, 2013 3:31 PM (in response to BDinkar)Hmm, no transparency. I just tried a test using a new document and typing was fast, then opening another doc with master pages and a simple AI vector file i noticed the slow down. I copied and pasted the vector file and sure enough it seemed to have given the typing a slight delay. So far it appears to be attributed to placed files.
I will do more testing as I go. Also just upgraded to OS Maverick and it seems a little faster.

Leonie15 Nov 7, 2013 3:17 PM (in response to Mr_Bimg)There has been a lot of discussion about this in other threads. This one is worth a look with several hints and tips. InDesign + OS X Mavericks = Slooow? (Updated)

10. Re: Typing is delayed in InDesign CC
Mr_Bimg Nov 26, 2013 8:14 AM (in response to Leonie15)I have tried all of the troubleshooting in the other forum and it continues to behave sluggish.
I don't understand how this is possible after how many version updates and improvements! I understand that improvements come with new features and more programming is required, but at some point software should be developed with simplicity and ease in mind. Adobe seems to emulate the government, adding more and more complex operations that make it ultimately sluggish and not very effective - something as simple as typing and selecting text. I'm at a loss here, can't believe its so slow...I feel like i'm working on my old powermac 500!
Some professional Adobe support is welcomed here please!

BobLevine Nov 26, 2013 8:24 AM (in response to Mr_Bimg)If you read the other threads and this one you should be aware that Adobe is working on it. These issues have been very hit or miss and apparently very hard to track down.
Last I heard a dozen or so bugs have been discovered and fixed and new release will be coming sometime in January. In the mean time there are links in the other threads to join the prerelease program where you'll have immediate access to the latest builds.

Mr_Bimg Nov 26, 2013 8:39 AM (in response to BobLevine)Thansk Bob,
I understand there are issues with Mavericks they are tracking down but I've been having issues with this slowness since CC was released. I just wish there was a way to standardize the essentials of an app and you could "turn on" additional functionality as you need it.

13. Re: Typing is delayed in InDesign CC
BobLevine Nov 26, 2013 8:50 AM (in response to Mr_Bimg)The issues are affecting a mix of users mostly, but not exclusively, on
all version of OSX from 10.6 on.
This version of InDesign was written from the ground up and
unfortunately with millions of combinations of hardware and software
some of these issue slipped through. You may want to go back to CS6
until it all gets sorted.

14. Re: Typing is delayed in InDesign CC
Mr_Bimg Nov 26, 2013 5:11 PM (in response to BobLevine)I just found the answer to this incredibly simple problem (at least for my getup). I don't remember seeing this in any of the other threads as a fix:
Go to Sys Prefs > General > uncheck "Use LCD font smoothing..."
IND is back to normal and speedy as ever. SWEET JOY!!!!
