Hi Mike. Are you trying to open animated GIFs or static GIF images? What happens when you try to open them?
It wasn't an animated GIF. Thumbnail doesn't show the picture in Bridge just an icon and when I try to open it in PS I get the following error message:
"Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file."
Do this trick ..
lets say the file is image.gif
1- Rename file to whatever to be as video i.e. image.avi
2- Photoshop (CS3 & higher) : File -> import-> video to layers
3- unmark the keeping animation .. and its done
The workaround is to simply convert the gif to a jpg.
1) Open the gif with a simple program like Windows Paint.
2) Execute a File > Save-As >
3) Select JPG format for the image
It's very sad when a basic program like Windows Paint has to assist the top of the line and expensive Adobe Paint.
Very sad indeed.
