I just did a dozen invocations of Any File import on LR 5.2 / Windows 7, with no problem. Each import calls LrTasks.execute() twice, once to run a custom Windows .exe and then to run Exiftool.
On which platform are you observing the problem?
Thanks for checking John.
Problem is on Windows (7/64). I've noticed too when shutting down my machine I have to endure some cmd.exe processes that "won't quit" - I'm guessing those are them. Could be a problem with my machine, rather than Lr, still it's weird...
Confirmed - the cmd.exe processes are evidence of the problem - if the correct cmd.exe process is killed, LrTasks.execute returns. Anybody have any idea what might cause cmd.exe to hang - this problem is driving me crazy and a.t.m. I have no idea what to do about it.
Thanks in advance,
I haven't had any hangs on Windows 7, but I do recall thinking some executables took longer than expected to run. Will keep an eye out for this. Haven't seen any excess cmd exes still running when I shutdown my system either.
Thanks Matt. I'm thinking it's my system, but I can't imagine what the trouble is - very strange. Do you know if there is any difference between LrTasks.execute and LrShell.openPathsViaCommandLine, at the lower levels I mean. I'm wondering if I might have better luck with it, or if it would behave the same.
