What am I doing wrong?
8.5GB is not all that much for 36 minutes of video.
Buy more disk space.
Thanks Joe, maybe you're right. I did the math and if all my 174 VHS, Hi8 and DV/HDV tapes average that, it should all fit on my 2TB G-Drive I guess. If not, I'll just have to get another.
What compression/codec setting did you choose?
Old fashion DV-avi which the Canopus gives when capturing over firewire is about 13 gig for one hour.
Not sure, whatever it defaulted to when I set up to capture? I'm new at this if you didn't guess. What one should I have used? Thanks.
Gee, I just bought this thing, how could it be old fashioned already? Should I have gotten a different convertor? Your # is about right if 36 min is 8.5gb.
I think Ann was referring to the good ol' DV-avi,
which in the current days of HD predominance, has become
something of an old-fashioned format (SD - 720x480 NTSC).
However, that is the proper capture format
for your VHS / Hi-8 material.
HDV is different from DV... 1440x1080 @1.333.
Joe explained exactly what I meant.
