how to make popups

ok if you go to www.myheritage.com and click the login link, the page "grays out" and you get a "popup window" inside the same browser window, which is draggable just liek an actual window.

how the heck do they do that?

even if it wasnt draggable, it would be nice to knwo how they gray out the whole page liek that.

any ideas?

It's javascript and CSS.

View source, search for the "Log in" text that is the link that activates it. You'll see that it's calling a javascript method named "logIn()". Now find that function declaration in the included javascript files (hint, it's in the first one that's included on the page).
