It's not clear to me what you're asking, exactly. Do you want to have access to your digital ID (private key) on more than one computer so you can apply certificate security and/or otherwise digitally sign documents, or do you want to add certificates from a number of users (public keys) to your list of certificates to you can apply certificate security for various users? In either case, the answer is yes, but how you go about it is different, and it not clear why your "clients won't be happy". Or do you mean something else?
Thanks for your response.
I want to have access to my digital ID on more than one computer so I can apply certificate security. I've created a digital ID on my laptop, can I then transfer it to my main pc?
When I said 'my clients won't be happy' I meant if I have to create a new digital ID on every device I use and then add each client (i have over 100) multipe times to each device I use.. they will get annoyed. Do you see what I'm saying?
All i want to know is if I create a digital ID on my laptop, can I then transfer it to my main pc? if so, how do I do this?
I see. The specific steps depend on what version of Acrobat you're using and the type of digital ID, but the following previous thread includes some instructions that may help: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1250188
Thanks for your help George.
I've had a look but can't seem to find those options on my version.
So what version of Acrobat and OS are you using?
I am using Windows 7 and Acrobat X Pro
I believe in Acrobat 10 you will get to the dialog by selecting: Tools > Sign & Certify > More Sign & Certify > Security Settings
Once you get to this point, the rest of the instructions should apply.
Thanks for your help- I had a nightmare on the phone with Adobe's Tech Support team yesterday trying to figure this all out.
I've managed to transfer the digital ID to my main PC. Does this mean that the 'private key' is also on my main PC? Also, although I've transferred the digital ID- my trusted contacts and certificates don't seem to have copied over?
