First thing I would try is to update the CS5 to the latest update 7.0.4 from this location: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5004. Later if InDesign still crashes, then I would apply full permissions to the following folders:
If this doesn't resolve the issue then troubleshoot fonts using this document: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-fonts-mac-os-x.html
Hi Print Fusion,
Tried update download warns that "applications manager is needed to resolve
this problem, however is missing or damaged. Download a new copy of
application manager from adobe.com or install this product again."
Gave read/write access to HDD/Library/ApplicationSupport/TypeSupport
Under users I have two folders and an image of a house with (User Name)
beside it. Folders are: Shared and (User Name).
Only the shared folder contains library/applicationsupport/adobe.
The (User Name) folder has the following folders all of them with a red
circle with black dash on the corner of the folders; Desktop, Documents,
Downloads, Movies, Music, Pictures. There is a Dropbox folder with a green
check mark and a Public folder with no check mark or red circle with
dropbox inside of it.
I gave read/write access to applicationsupport and adobe in the shared
InDesign is still shutting down unexpectedly during initializing plugins.
Note: I moved the SING folder yesterday, but there was a new one today.
Any more suggestions?
I don't have my disks anymore, but I have my product key code for cs5
Design Standard Essentials. I haven't found anywhere to download InDesign
cs5. I wonder if I could use my product key code on a new download of cs5?
I don't have a Datastore folder in Mark II.
This is what I have: MacOS/Library/Applications Support/Adobe/SING/
(Glyphets and Mark II/ SING.bundle, SINGCore.bundle, TIN.bundle.
Both SING bundles are bundles but TIN is an idvd 2 project.
You can remove the entire Mark II folder, but you seem to have another issue with the application manager that will bite you eventually.
I'm fairly sure the installer is the same for the student versions, and you can dowload it from Download Adobe CS5 Free Trials – All Direct Links without Akamai | ProDesignTools. You must follow the directions on the page very carefully, though, or it won't work. You should be able to enter your serial number and be on your way, but just in case, make a system backup of how things are now first so you don't find yourself with no way back. The installer may also be able to do a "repair" which would be the first thing to try. Yor serial number is only usable with the same product, so if you bought a suite license, you can only use it with the same suite bundle.
As far as the folders that PrintFusion45 mentioned, some of these could be hidden in 10.8.5 (I don't know because I'm a Windows user). To learn how to show hidden files and folders on the Mac see Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion
