Trying to figure out the smoothest running clip format for Premiere (CS6 in this case). If you've ever played with Edius, you can convert the clips in the bin to other formats, particularly Edius HQ files, which play smooth as silk in Edius, even on older or slower computers. I was wondering if Premiere has a favored workflow format similar to Edius? I have read that Premiere has always favored .avi files for best results. If so, which codec is best to use?
With Premiere there is no transcoding required.
You simply edit using the original native media files.
You gotta shake the "Edius HQ / FCP ProRes" transcoding mindset.
Edit with your original files, and the only concern about codecs
will come when it's time to encode / export.
