Something got hosed somewhere. First I would try trashing the preferences.
If that doesn't do it, then yes, a reinstall would probably be next.
BTW, what do you mean someone gave you the trial? That trial can be
freely downloaded from Adobe's website and there's no telling what you
Bad syntax on my part, sorry for the confusion! Someone gave me an ID file in CC. I downloaded the trial (from Adobe) so I could open it and save it back to CS6.
I'll trash CS6 prefs and see if that does the trick.
No luck with trashing the prefs. I uninstalled IDCS6, re-downloaded it from Adobe, and re-installed. I was a little paranoid that my Web and Design Premium serial number wouldn't work, but it did, whew.
So, then I fired up CS6, fired up CC, opened the document in question, saved it back and all seems to be fine now. It opened without incident in CS6.
I need to uninstall CC, I can't stand that all the adobe apps default to the latest version when you double click on the file icon. I just upgraded to CS6 before all the CC-ness earlier this year, so I need to wait a while to move up to CC. (Looks fab, though!) And a lot of my clients are still using CS5.
Anyway, thanks for the advice, it was very helpful.
Glad you got it sorted!
To help with the problem of the OS using the latest version of the app that is installed instead of the one that saved the file you could try Soxy from Rorohiko.
