That looks like a classic video driver issue.
With a Mac OS, one normally gets their video driver updated, with OS updates. Have you updated your OS, since this started? If not, that would be my first course of action.
You might also go to the nVidia Web site, to see if there is a unique video driver (might not be included in the OS update).
My OS is completely up to date, which typically includes new video drivers when there is one.
I also checked the nVidia site for updates and on the manual search when i select my video card it shows no updates, but it does say the CUDA driver was updated just a few days ago. I will try that and let you know how it goes.

The issue might be with MAC and Mercury playback engine with open Cl enabled. This issue is with nvidia open cl and MAC. Please select CUDA in MPE or software only mode and it will work fine. Also, try to install cuda toolkit from thebelow link and then check.
Looks like the CUDA driver helped most of my issues. The screen will still glitch out every once in a while, but not nearly as often and the performace is much much better.
I know this is years later... I am having this problem with my screen - iMac late 2012. Will it be safe to install the cuda5.520 package? Please can you confirm.
