It's probably the most annoying thing there is about CC along with the
fact that the app doesn't remember where the window was when you close
it and re-open. You can fix the UI issue by reading this and using the
It would be preferable if Adobe just fixed it. Isn't regular fixes and updates the whole promise of CC? Isn't that why we're forced to shell out every month?

Sorry Bob that was not directed at you or the users, I thought that would have been clear. I appreciated your help very much and marked your comment as such. Surely the airing of an opinion is not prohibited in a user-to-user forum.
No, but a lot of people come here to rant and it's counter productive.
I hate the dark interface. I've written long explanations of how I think the dark interface infiltrated the graphics applications.
However, Adobe put a lot of effort into the dark interface, and many photographers wanted it for Photoshop and then Illustrator and InDesign. And given all that work, I don't think they will change the default.
Just like they're not going to change the default unit of measurement from picas to inches. And believe me, most people I see have no idea what a pica is, much less how to use it.
Yes, I am ambivalent about the dark interface, I think its appropriateness has to do with context. For film and photography I am in agreement with the idea that it is well suited.
For print and page-layout I don't believe it is. The contrast of the white page is just too much.
Which is why the ability to set a preference is paramount. The fact that InDesign keeps rolling back to a dark interface regardless of your preference setting could not be more wrong, and needs to be fixed.
I had the same problem on my Windows install, so I went to that link, followed the links to the page with the 1-line startup scripts (2 of them) and made them into .jsx files placed in the startup scripts folder, and the problem has settled down now for a week or so. I haven't seen this happen on my Mac install.
I've had no problems since installing the 1-line startup script. A good "fix" until the bug gets taken care of.
