plzhalpmeh Sep 27, 2013 3:03 PM (in response to CarthagoDelendaEst)If it doesn't have a background in photoshop try saving it as a .png document and placing it in illustrator. The selection box will still be square but the background will stay transparent.

I've tried Live Trace, and that comes close, but I don't really need all the image traced, just that outside edge.

Kurt Gold Sep 28, 2013 6:27 AM (in response to CarthagoDelendaEst)Select the image, add a stroke to it in the Appearance panel, then go to Effect > Path > Outline Object.
May or may not look as desired.
