Down button state shows white rectangle

    plb206 Level 1
Created text buttons on pattern background. When clicking on them I see a white rectangle background for an instant, Do I need to take an actual copy of the background where the button is located on the page and paste it in the up state and down state? I want the background to be white in Dreamweaver and the background I have created in Fireworks to be 698Wx 950L, and centered on page It is a .jpg background and has a definite pattern to it. Thanks for any help. -creatorwa-

Whichever pattern you want in the background of the buttons has to be on
          the canvas in Fireworks.

Thanks Linda... while spending countless hours trying to figure this out... I finally did last night. Your response sure left a LOT out though. The background for the buttons has to be the exact size or larger than the text for the button. It has to be from the exact position on the background if the background is a unique pattern.. (I did this by using the crop tool.. making it the exact size a slice and the exact position then exporting the piece and importing it in the area for that particular button), then, in the edit button area, it has to be "grouped" to the text. Each one of these steps I did one at a time and tested each time.

Now you know why it's rare to see patterns behind buttons. It's not
worth the trouble! You might find that if you check it in different
browsers they don't line up after all.
