I've gotten very comfortable with value graphs in AE, but I've always avoided the speed graph because it is not intuitive to me.
When using the value graph, I can add an intermediate keyframe, and very easily readjust my curve to become smooth.
But when I do that in the speed graph, the graph gets immediately "bent out of shape" and I have serious issues trying to smooth it out (see below, you'll understand what I'm getting at, I think)
are there some basic techniques I'm missing? Some way of easily taking 3 keyframes and creating a smooth curve between them? I've been using AE too long not to know how to do this
thanks very much!
Try changing the intermediate keyframe's TEMPORAL interpolation to linear.
thanks Dave--still no luck
but here's something interesting: I have the trouble when trying to do this with a parameter such as a shape layer's path (the example that I was initially struggling with). When I try the same thing with a simple position keyframe, the curve seems to smooth out without much hassle.
And further, I've now noticed that the former doesn't have an option for "continuous bezier" while the latter animation's keyframes do have this option. Does that ring a bell for anyone?
