DPS App Builder not working from CS6 Folio Builder Panel

    Bexigallio Community Member

I am trying to test an App, and am at the Create App stage. However when I use the Folio Builder Panel > Create App command, I get into a loop of DPS App Builder telling me I need to go to sign out of DPS App Builder and go via Folio Builder Panel > Create App command.

So I sign out, go through the process again. Then in the DPS App Builder, I can only 'Manage' my apps, (I have none as I've deleted them now) I am not able to create a New App from the DPS Dashboard or via App Builder.

I am really struggling with this now as since upgrading to V28 DPS tools, nothing is working, and I can't get through to anyone from Adobe for some techinical support on DPS.

Can anyone throw any light on why someone with a Creative Cloud account, No published Apps, and all the correct certificates generated doesn't have the facility to create a new App from a Completed Folio, with a .Zip file ready and waiting to go...?

I would really appreciate any help with this issue

If you are a CC customer there shouldn't be any .zip file involved. Try doing the following:

          1) Sign out of App Builder

          2) Sign out of Folio Builder in InDesign

          3) Reboot

          4) Sign into Folio Builder

          5) Try doing Create App from the flyout emenu in Folio Builder again.

You need to open InDesign on your Mac computer.  Folio Builder flyout menu has the App Builder and is an actual App Builder but you need to click on the icon that reads "Create" on the left side of the page.   I got caught in this merry-go-round with my last app! I am running it now to confirm my information - and yes, it's creating the app. It is still on the DPS App Builder webpage - but at least has the option now of creating and not just managing.

Hi Ruthanne, thanks for the response, but it turns out the solution is:

              1. Quit InDesign and any other CS apps.
              2. First, delete the opm.db file located in /Users/"your user name"/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE/opm.db, and then start InDesign and try signing in to the panel.

Why that has taken Adobe support, four phone calls, and unhelpful advice, plus a link to a help article that I had to go through several links to find the answer to, I don't know.

It would help if the "DPS" support team were better trained, and rather than sendind emails with links to articles on them, had s stock number of troubleshooting steps to try I don't know.

I was advised to create a whole new user account, uninstall InDesign, and reinstall it on that user account to see if that solved the problem, but fortunately this simple fix cured it in my standard user account.

I have learned in a very painful and stressful way, that a lot of the information on the support forums is not up to date, and relates to CS5 and CS5.5, and that Adobe expect you to do a lot of the research into problems yourself, as they often don't know the cure. I know that DPS is very complex - but all the more reason to invest in better trained support staff.

After a painful journey, this simple solution cured this issue:

                1. Quit InDesign and any other CS apps.
                2. First, delete the opm.db file located in /Users/"your user name"/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE/opm.db, and then start InDesign and try signing in to the panel.

I did also delete the InDesign prefs file (holding down SHIFT, CTRL, ALT, CMD on start-up of InDesign) as advised but don't know if this made any difference.

I'm just really glad that it appears to be working again. Phew
