I'm curious to learn if upgrading from a 4gb (DDR3) Nvidia GeForce GT640 with 384 Cuda cores to a 4gb (GDDR5) GTX 680 with 1536 Cuda cores would offer a suffiencient speed boost in Premiere/After Effects. It's a lot of coin to drop and I'm just not sure if it's the right decision. Any input would be greatly apprecaited! Thanks.
CPU - Core i7-4770 - RAM - 32gb DDR3
If you're considering the 680 make sure you research the 700-series cards before you buy. The 700-series cards are quite a bit better, though most of the gains apply mostly to gamers. But memory bandwidth is worth considering and the 700-series cards offer more of it while using less power. And I'm pretty sure the 770 is even cheaper than the 680.
