4. Re: automatic RSS feeds?
RKRobin6100 Dec 5, 2013 10:03 AM (in response to mario_gudelj)What I found was that since I created the RSS channel instead of letting the Blog create it, it wasn't updating automatically when a blog post was added.
How I solved the problem:
Edited the Blog Details to uncheck the option to Syndicate this Blog (RSS) and saved
Deleted the RSS Channel I had created
Edit the Blog Details and checked the option to Syndicate this Blog (RSS) and saved
This created the RSS channel and linked it properly causing future blog posts to automatically add to the RSS feed. This did not add past posts so I edited the RSS Channel Items and manually added the specific blog posts that I wanted to be included in the RSS Feed. It took a couple hours to build the RSS Feed (I had to change the Channel Update Frequency to Wildfire! because it defaulted to twice a week). I use Feedburner so once the Channel appears by "Displaying in the Browser" I did a Resync in Feedburner and all is well.
Note to Business Catalyst:
The instructions that I found for creating RSS Channels and linking to Blog posting perhaps should be revisited. The instructions I was following specifically said to create the RSS channel manually, rather than having the Blog create it for you. This apparently creates problems in the linking of the two. Clearer instructions could definitely save others valuable time.
