    Need help - Text Formatting

    RC_ProAm
I have had a reoccurring problem with a few fonts example: (Insomnia). Fireworks cuts off the top of all the letters. I have used the same font in Photoshop and they come out fine. This only happens on a few of my fonts but it is really annoying. Any advise or help would be greatly appreciated.

In some fonts, the glyphs extend beyond the em-square. Fireworks doesn't do a very good job rendering parts of glyphs outside em-squares. Yeah, it's annoying.

Here are two work-arounds that I've used:

Sometimes, if you add text around the text you want, buffering it with sufficient blank lines and spaces that the extra text is off your image (I usually use periods, because they're small, but anything works), you'll get the missing bits of the glyphs.

The other option is to us a vector program (Illustrator, InkScape?), set the text and export that as an .ai file to import into Fireworks.

Convert the text to paths. You won't be able to edit it once you've
converted it, but that take care of the problem.

No need for that! I pick up new ideas from this forum all the time.

Nah...I don't really feel too foolish! Nobody's born knowing everything. How else are you to learn, except by asking questions or reading the answers to other people's questions?

                  It's all good!

Cool the convert to path works great. Thanks for the info, greatly appreciated.
