If you are working with a Clip, to be Duplicated, and then Pasted to the same Project's Timeline, Select the Clip, and Copy that (Ctrl+C on a PC), then move the CTI (Current Time Indicator) to the desired position on the Timeline, and Paste (Ctrl+V on a PC). That will Paste the Copy of that Clip, at the CTI.
Hope that is helpful, and is what you want to do.
Thanks! Worked great. I still don't understand why the software doesn't let you do this with another function. It lets you "copy" stuff, but when you go to paste it there is no paste option. Wierd.
Now, when one has added and adjusted Effects on a Clip, they can Copy those Effects & Attributes, then Paste those to other Clips, either individually, or to many, by Selecting all, where that/those Effect(s), and Adjustments are desired. That is a somewhat similar operation, but does not Copy the Clip - just the Effects and Adjustments made to it.
Good luck, and glad that you are able to Copy & Paste the desired Clip, into another spot on your Timeline.
