~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Mic Works EVERYWHERE BUT Captivate~~~~~~~~~~

My USB Plantronics Headset/Microphone combination works just fine for all applications EXCEPT for captivate.

I can hear the clicks, the record buttons, the stops, etc. just fine.
However when I go to the configure/test audio level screen, it never picks up my voice (no, the mute button is not on).
I use a server daily where I talk over the internet with the same headset/microphone and everything/everyone can hear me just fine. So it appears that I am missing a setting or setup within Captivate to have it recognize the microphone..........any suggestions?
