    Printing info

    CoGordo4 Community Member

      Hi,

I am graphic designer for small digital printer. I am constantly running into issues making my RIP software( Fiery cws) and printer(xerox 700) properly print art my customers and I have created. I am pretty versed in the full creative suite (atleast indesign, Illustrator and photoshop) but I am have real trouble finding good info on how intergrate it properly into a professional setting. Judging by all the terribly set up files I see on a daily basis I am not the only one. Does any one know of any good resources for finding good information for printing professional in regards to Adobe products? Anything would help.

      Thanks

Check out Adobe's Print Publishing Guide ( do a search on the web ).  The key to consistency is calibrating your hardware and setting up correct application color settings.  Have you read the RIP operator's manual?  Since it sounds like you are in a "closed loop" work environment, you should definitely get all of the applications and your hardware calibrated in order to optimize ouput and retain consistency.  Xerox may be able to help as well.

            John,

Am I right in believing that you have stopped being you usual self after an encounter with the new sign in?

If so, I believe a Private Message to Madison may be the fastest way to become your own self again, http://forums.adobe.com/people/m.m.murphy. Others have been helped back by her.

            CoGordo,

I apologize for this OT post.

You are very perceptive.  To be frank, I really could care less about points or number of posts.  So, getting back the old me?  Please.  If I were you, I'd be more concerned about the direction the entire adobe cloud is going and has gone.  User personal information was never as vulnerable as it is right this second, as I type this message.  Security breaches will continue to happen because of the great misconception that commerce can be done via the internet.  Yes, I know we've been doing it for a long time now.  But I value brick and mortar storefronts where we can buy software without giving away the kitchen sink.  But, as far as I'm concerned, the security announcement and the so-called fix is a joke, just like the cloud is.  The only reason I re-up'd my sign-in was so I could help fellow users.  But, this may be on a limited time basis because now I am getting dupe messages in my eMail in-box.  What a pain.

                John,

I apologize. Other natives caught in it have been happy to become their old selves again. I hope you are aware that most of those labelled MVPs are just common natives like you and I (having no clue who made the decision or why). I know no more about the Cloud or the inner workings of the forums than do you, I just care about friends and people in need, and carry on as I have always done since some time round the turn of the millennium, trying to do something about what I may do something about.

With regard to the email notifications, you may try the suggestions here, if you decide to hang in here, http://forums.adobe.com/thread/416458

I for one should be sorry to see you leave for good, after witnessing how well you have helped so many.

                  Thanks jdanek,

I will check out the Adobes Print Publishing Guide. Hopfully it will fill in some of the blanks between Fiery's tec. support and my general knowledge of CS6. I am shocked there isn't more books and tutorials about these things. As a digital printer I am constantly given nearly unprintable ( or atleast things that arn't going to look anything like the designer thought) documents. It's frustrating. I think it is discusting that many graphic design schools don't teach anything about  producing art that can be printed. I know my BFA program at Colorado State didn't cover it at all. It makes printing so much harder when you have to fix every file that comes your way.
