You need CS6 or CC in order to use ACR 8.1.
If you need the update for camera support, and you can't update right now, consider using the DNG converter. It's a free download from Adobe.
I have CS6 and Camera Raw 8.1 on is.
LR5.2 on the same System work with CR 6.xx Why?
If you have Lightroom 5.2 installed, then you have the same features as Camera Raw 8.2. Lightroom does not use the camera raw plugin. All that technology is part of the Lightroom program. You cannot install Camera Raw in Lightroom because it doesn't use it.
But I have not the same lens corrections as in CS6
No Zeiss, no Fujii etc.
The lens corrections are specific to RAW or non-RAW, so if you’re looking at a non-RAW image (JPG, TIF, etc) then you’ll have many fewer possibilities.
Profiles are format-specific. And I know that current versions of Lightroom and ACR are supposed to have identical features. When you talk about lens corrections in CS6, are you talking about Photoshop or ACR?
If you look at the "About Lightroom" dialog in 5.2, it will tell you what version of camera raw you are compatible with.
No. In CS6 i have Zeiss T* Planar ... with RAW. In LR5.2 not.
@Jim: I open an Picture in Bridge CS6 -> ACR -> CS6
The lens correction in ACR has more lenses than LR5.2 (with ACR 8.2)
In LR 5.2 are 7 manufacturer, in ACR CS6 are 17!
Incl. Hasselblad, Leica, Zeiss etc.
I just looked in the Lightroom folder in Program Files. Apparently there are Zeiss profiles for Nikon, Canon, and Sony. What camera do you have?
You need to be viewing a RAW-format file to see all the manufacturers! I see 17 for a raw file.
EOS 60D, Zeiss Planar T* f/1,4 50mm.
I have not the manufacturer Zeiss, Hasselblad, Fujitsu (Fujifilm), Leica and more in LR 5.2 lens corrections.
Oh, stop, i see the problem.
I only have some photos too little manufacturer.
I shot a picture with a Fuji Z1 and LR5 have not the manufacturer in the List. With the Tamron 17-50 on a 60D is the manufacturer listed.
I think ssprengel is right ...
LR5 have not the manufacturer listed when the picture is JPG. I shot a few JPG with Fuji, Sony, Apple.
Apple is always listed. Sony and Fuji only on RAW.
I see 17 lens brands, but if I double click on Zeiss, that folder only contains the three I mentioned. But I'm on Windows, if that makes a difference.
I test it in the next time times with different photos and cameras
On Windows 7 64-bit, comparing LR 5.2 and ACR 8.2/DNG Converter 8.2 lens profiles from their following respective folders:
LR 5.2: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.2\Resources\LensProfiles\1.0
DNGC 8.2: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0
848 lens profiles are identical between the two sets of subfolders, while the ACR 8.2/DNG Converter 8.2 has four extra profiles:
.\sigma\olympus\olympus imaging corp. (sigma30mm1.4 ) - raw.lcp
.\sigma\olympus\olympus imaging corp. (sigma70-200mm2.8 ) - raw.lcp
.\sigma\pentax\pentax (sigma_18-200mm_f3.5-6.3_dc_os_hsm) - raw.lcp
.\sigma\pentax\pentax (sigma_200-500mm_f2.8_apo_ex_dg ) - raw.lcp
These four extra profiles in the camera-raw subfolders are from back in March 2010 and appear to be duplicates of profiles already in the Sigma folder, so may be obsolete, copies.
If you are seeing "Apple" listed among the set of lens profile makes (i.e., Make popup menu in the Lens Correction panel, Profile sub-panel), then you are looking at a non-raw file (such as a JPEG), and you'll only see non-raw lens profiles.
