Strict Win7 PC environment, no software/hardware changes. No Windows updates. Yesterday InD and all apps would launch within 10secs, now Ind, AI, MS Office and Quark are taking forever to open, and CPU usage slams into 100% during these 3-5min launch times.
Oddly, Photoshop, Windows Live Mail, Fiery RIP Commander and Firefox/Chrome are not affected. They're just fine.
Ran disc scans, all clean. No malware, registry errors or virus.
Deleted the FNTCACHE.DAT file from system32, no joy. All 800+ fonts check out fine.
No corrupt/bad sectors...swapped ram chips, no joy.
Really scratching my head here...
P4 3.2ghz, 4gb ram, 120gb free on HD
All fans connected and working, interior PC temp balmy 80F...
Ready to get a new machine, but I'd like to know what the heck is causing this!
Bet it was some sort of system update, or maybe your anti-virus.
Does it continue to be so slow after the first launch?
