I have seen this in an old post:
"Re: multichannel audio output
Director 11.5 has a new audio engine that can do full 7.1 sound. You can have individual control ovr any of the channels and send different audio to different speakers. Also, there are a lot of audio filters and things to adjust your sound.
The Adobe Director product page talk about 5.1 support. Anyone has sucessfully tested 7.1 capability?
Officially, Director 11.5 and later support 5.1 sound. You can find the Adobe documentation for the new Audio Mixer features here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Director/11.5/Beginners/WS287f927bd30d4b1f76de258713045a1a80e- 8000.html
You can download a D11.5 projector from here to test the 5.1 features.
The link is to my own site, because Adobe, in its wisdom, decided to protect the Director casts and movies for its official download, so that you can have no access to the source code. My unprotected version also gives you access to an unfinished part of the movie, where you can test the effects of filters (and create Bézier curves dynamically... but the resulting wave forms produce no sound).
