Graphics card for Premiere Pro CS5.5 editing

Currently I've got a Radeon HD 5870 and playback in Premiere Pro CS5.5 is a bit choppy. I think this is becuase Premiere is not making use of any hardware acelleration.

I think the time has come to upgrade and I'm looking at something in the £200 region which is faster than the 5870 but also good for Premiere Pro CS5.5 editing.

How are Radeons for editing these days? I've got my eye on the new R9 270X because it's only £160 or so. Alternatively there's the GeForce GTX 760 which is a little more expensive (it's about £200).

Would the R9 270X be fine for editing or should I go with a GeForce instead? Going by this http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-r9-280x-r9-270x-r7-260x,3635-15.html the 270X seems be beat the GTX 760 in these kind of scenarios. Is that true?

      Rest of specs are: Core i5 2500K OC'ed to 4.3GHz, ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3, 16GB RipJaws-X 1648MHz, 128GB Vertex 4, 2TB WD Green, OCZ ZS 650W PSU, Windows 8.1 Enterprise.
