I need a solution that will authenticate usernames and passwords between two apps on different computers within the same domain.
      Any help is appreciated

      Thanks,

            Make it a web service.

There are some holes in your description - for example, can a user log into each of these apps independently, using a different username/password on each? Or do they need to log into one app first (a master app)?

You could achieve what you want with a simple HTTP post - encrypt it first, and decrypt it on the 2nd app. Just the fact that the key can be decrypted successfully means that the system that encrypted the key was "trusted" in some fashion (this is not fool proof, of course).

Dan's suggestion is a good one - maybe the 2nd app can just return the data needed in the first?

Can you post more about the relationship between the two apps?

              Cheers,
