No. You can't tab into a read-only field.
Thanks Gilad, In that case, is there then a way (via a script) that if I leave field 2 as not readonly, so the cursor moves into this field on tab out of field one, that I can reject any input from the user, if field one does not contain any data ? I thought this might be a solution. I have the script with the If Else statement, that sets the value of field 2 to "", if the value of field 1 is also "", but what is the else statement required to accept the value, if the content of field 1 is not "" ?.
The script preoduces an error, if field 1 is blank, and I try to enter data into field 2 and then tab out of field.
Yes, that is possible. You can use something like this as the custom validation script of "field 2":
if (this.getField("field 1").value=="") event.rc = false;
else event.rc = true;
You may not edit/write a RO Field but the TAB key actually now Stops at the RO field. Yes?
Wished i could upload a sample with Form Fields.
This should not be the case. Read-only fields are excluded from the tabbing order.
What application are you using to open the file?
For the life in me, I cannot duplicate the event on my home machine but it indeed happens on my Office PC. Kindly let me re-create it next Monday, and thanks for the prompt response.
Challenge may lie in the fact that the form was originally designed in Foxit Software. I can certainly re-create the condition under Foxit.
Tab indeed cycles through all fields, RW or RO.
