Bob Levine Oct 28, 2013 5:50 AM (in response to Matrix-SCM)What are the settings for the overlay?
Also, I recommend that you preview it on a device.

Matrix-SCM Oct 28, 2013 8:52 AM (in response to Bob Levine)I am not sure, how do I find out?
I have just tried to download the Adobe content viewer but it does not work on my old iPad, so I will be looking to upgrading very shortly

Bob Levine Oct 28, 2013 11:47 AM (in response to Matrix-SCM)You need to select autoplay and set the delay to .125 seconds. I'd also
deactivate allow user interaction.

Matrix-SCM Oct 29, 2013 8:42 AM (in response to Bob Levine)hmmmm, I will carry on looking, thank you for your time!
Perhaps its because of it being a SVG file?

11. Re: Animation will not work on when previewing in Folio builder
Bob Bringhurst Oct 29, 2013 9:09 AM (in response to Matrix-SCM)My experience with SVG images in web overlays is mixed. You might try replacing the SVG files with PNGs to see if that's causing the problem.

DMD-Ryan Oct 29, 2013 3:52 PM (in response to Matrix-SCM)Like Bob Bringhurst said. Replace SVG files with PNGs. I have first hand experience that SVG files do not work with DPS when exported from Edge. They look good in the browser but not DPS.

13. Re: Animation will not work on when previewing in Folio builder
Ton Frederiks Oct 31, 2013 2:51 PM (in response to Matrix-SCM)When preparing a demo we had a similar experience. We animated an SVG file from Illustrator in Edge Animate.
The preview looked fine in a Browser.
From InDesign, the placed OAM package would not play in the Desktop Content Viewer, did not play on a connected iPad and did not play when it was exported with the Folio Builder in the iPad Content Viewer.
I renamed the .oam file to .zip and unzipped it.
In the resulting folder you will find an Assets folder with an .html file.
I created a Web overlay in InDesign and selected the .html file from the Assets folder (and set the Autoplay checkbox)
The preview in the Desktop Content Viewer showed nothing, but the animation played on a directly connected iPad and when exported from the Folio Builder in the iPad Content Viewer.
I tried also to use the html export version from Edge Animate, but that does not work.
The animation needs 2 javascripts that are included in a folder "edge_includes" in the OAM file (and in the "Assets" folder), but that folder is missing and they are only referenced from the web in the exported html from Edge Animate and that does not seem to load in the folio.
So it can work with a little effort: unzip the .oam file and use the html from the Assets folder.
regards,
Ton

Bob Levine Oct 31, 2013 2:56 PM (in response to Ton Frederiks)No need to go through that. Just publish it to HTML from Edge Animate.

15. Re: Animation will not work on when previewing in Folio builder
Ton Frederiks Oct 31, 2013 4:39 PM (in response to Bob Levine)OK, I just tried the publish to HTML with another file and that worked this time (not in the Desktop viewer though)
Before I wrote my reply I tested it and it did not work, so it seems a least a little unpredictable.
But if you want the animation to work while the iPad is offline, you need to uncheck the "Host runtime files on Adobe CDN" that will include the "edge_includes" folder with the needed javascripts.

bara_ema Nov 5, 2014 3:51 AM (in response to Matrix-SCM)Edge animation are not displayed properly on The desktop viewer, you should test them on iPad. I highly recomended to copy and paste object from illustrator instead of saving svg as renders better, also make sure that each object has a unique name or it won't preview. As well if u have multiple edge animation in the same folio make sure that all the names are different, and check the name in the image folder when you save the animation.
I guess your problem is due to opacity. if you changed the opacity of the object to fade in-out make sure at the first and last freme of the timeline you have the opacity you want for the object.
As well when you export it, make sure you have no poster image and in the publish settings the transparency box for the poster has to be tick.
Also tick the box autoplay in edge and in dps both or it won't work.
I hope it would help!
S.
