I am trying to import AVI files to Premiere Elements 10 but they are blank. They show the proper time length for the file but I get no video or audio. When I attempt to import the files directly from my Flip (one of the import options) the files are not even discoverable. I am using Windows XP. Any suggestions?
First, ensure that you have the latest version of Quicktime from Apple, per the program's requirements.
Then start a new project and select the project settings for a Flip HD camcorder. You MUST do this in order for the program to load the necessary components.
Attach your camcorder to your computer via USB and then use Premiere Elements' Get Media/From Flip or Camera to download the video from the camcorder to your computer.
My wife has a Flip camera, and I do not believe that AVI is what her camera uses (just checked... her Flip saves as .MP4)
Exactly what is inside your AVI files?

Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... A screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing
