Captivate 7 interactions missing!

Here is a weird issue. I was seeing all the interactions in the Interactions window few hours ago. Now, the last 2-3 hours, I see only Who wants to be a millionaire? interaction. Here is the screenshot:

I have cleared my preferences, restarted Captivate, and restarted my system as well. Nothing works.

Anybody else facing this issue? What could be wrong? I know that interactions connect to some backend server at regular intervals on its own to check for any updates. Is something wrong with that?

Hello Sreekanth,

I guess that may be a temporary problem .

Please check it now , Interactions windows is working fine at my end and I do see that some of the widgets are updated.

It is resolved. Don't know the cause of the issue. Don't know the solution. But it works now. If it happens in the middle of a project next time, I will be cursing Adobe badly (not that it matters to them).

I am experiencing the exact same issue... except, I have see one of two screens. (Unknown why either opens.)

I went to the 10/2013 eLearning Guild's DevLearn and it functioned just fine with all of my sessions with Adobe, etc.

Hi Michael

As I mentioned in my reply, I don't know the cause and the solution. The interactions disappeared and appeared on their own. Some sort of miracle. And, honestly I don't think Adobe knows it either.

They may suggest some standard troubleshooting methods like clearning preferences, restarting Captivate, or restarting your system. I tried all those when I faced that issue and nothing worked. I know that these interactions automatically check with some backend server for updates every 12 hours or so and I guess the error happened during one such update.

So for now, just pray and wait for the miracle.

Hi Michael,

After you launch Captivate and create/open a project, please wait for sometime (maximum a couple of minutes) and then launch Interaction dialog.

Hello Nitin,

The results were exactly the same after taking your advise.

I did find out that I can access the Interactions if I launch them as a Widget.
I am wondering if Captivate could be looking in the wrong directory for the source-files?

Interactions are widgets... you seem to have the opposite phenomenon: normally when you try to insert a Widget, path points to the interactions. Do you perhaps see the interactions in the Widgets panel? That would be really hilarious.

Hello Lieve,

It was good to see you again at Las Vegas!

The Interactions do not appear in the Widget panel.
The only way I am able to access them is: Insert/Widget and then direct Captivate to the source files.

This is the file pathway:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 7 (32 Bit)\Gallery\Interactions

They also apear in this pathway:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Adobe\eLearning Assets\Interactions

Also... the "Millionaire" Interaction seems to have disapeared from the Interaction library.
(I'm not sure if I am missing any others.)

On a side note: I know that you've gone through a lot this year... I truly hope you find the time to enjoy life & celebrate your passion for the flute!

Thanks for the nice wishes. My flute is still idle, didn't practice after my loss. But my passion for Captivate helped me a lot before and now. Since last month I'm available for Captivate consultation/training and plan to write some interactive ebooks about shared/advanced actions. My life is not over.

I noticed that from the two paths you are indication, the profile (users) path is the one that is updated all the time, not the Gallery. Millionaire was a recently added interaction (they sent it to me when I was already at DevLearn and it was pushed to everyone the day of my presentation). From your list I detect that it is the Gallery path you are showing, because I don't see any backup files. Check the Users path, please.

What is going awry with your Interactions panel is a mystery. But those interactions are really widgets, they have the same extension, which means you'll be fine when inserting them with Insert, Widgets. Only be sure to have the correct list, not the widgets list because they are not all compatible with HTML.

Do you know if there is a way to re-push the Millionaire Interaction to my computer?

Also... In you opinion... Would it be beneficial for me to un-install & re-install Cap 7? How hard would that be?

Hi Michael,

As you have mentioned you are behind a firewall, so it could be possible that downloading of interactions is not happening because of any restriction to connect to the interaction server.
Can we have a connect meeting so that we can figure out the issue and help you further.

We are not able to access the interaction store http://als.adobe.com/InteractionStore/. Is this site down or changed? Can you please share the correct store address so that we can download the interactions manually?

My interactions have gone missing. Finders suitably rewarded, only if they return it to me permanently.

I am at Captivate 7.01.

You might check that you have an internet connection. Seems that happened to me during a class where I had no Wifi available and thus, no internet.

Yes, Rick. I am connected to the internet.

I am aware that it this window connects to some interaction store once in a while, so I even waited for some 10 minutes before I put it up over here.

But, yeah, thanks for bringing a smile on my frustrated face. (Having some issues with FM publishing as well.)

Yay! Only ten million more points to go and I might get tossed into the hat for the big Mouse Pad giveaway drawing they hold every ten years or so!

On a more serious note, I never really understood the whole "points" system and folks always begging and pleading with others to mark their answer as being correct. I don't visit because of points. I visit because I like to share knowledge if I can. I also usually learn something along the way too. That's cool when that happens.

I had the same empty house inside Interaction panel, but after installing 7.0.1 can see all interactions and works Mystical, but reality

The interactions were there for a couple of days after I applied the patch. They disappeared suddenly.

Deleting the preferences worked this time for me. But last time when I faced this issue and I deleted the preferences, restarted Captivate, and even restarted my system. But nothing worked then.

This is not the first time I have faced this issue. The biggest concern is that Adobe never provided a concrete solution for this issue (nor the Youtube interaction issue), probably because these are random errors and they don't have any control as these are developed by some 3rd party.
