This same thing happened for me. If anyone could answer this it would be great!
The patch for After Effects CS6 (11.0.3) should be available by going to Help > Updates. Sorry Bridge didn't work for you, but you do need to be connected to the internet with all other Adobe apps closed. You might try downloading and installing the update once more.
The trial version of After Effects CC will not work with the update presently, you need the full version to run the update. Once After Effects CC (12.1) is launched, the trial version will then work with OS X 10.9 Mavericks.
Hope that helps,
The internet is all connected. The bridge still doesn't work. Have no idea why. Maybe i need to reinstall the bridge. Will do that tomorrow.
I just deleted the installed updates (the patches) then restarted my mac, then i reinstalled them then restarted my mac again to be safe side...then the update worked for both CS6 and CC. But with CC, there was some complications, so i restarted it again then patched it straight away, then restarted then it worked. Both are full versions, no trials...don't understand why it didn't work in the first place. :/
Thanks once again Kevin.

I am having the same problem as MsDeafGirl. I did everything she did that solved her problem. I even tried patch 11.0.4
I still get the "update failed" screen. I have AE CS 6. Updated OS to Mavericks 10.9.1
