where is the product number saved and in what format?
Arcadatabase extras is very good
Can... Search..everything in your data...in your CD, DVD, or local machine
If you create a list and establish 'keys' that may help.
itemlist = [["a","987654321","1.99"],["b","123456789","4.99"],["...",".........","....."],,]
Now you can search for item by "a", or "b", or "987654321" or "123456789".
if member(search).text = getAt(getAt(itemlist,q),2) then...
ok, I'm a bit baffled at some of the 'solutions' provided by the other posters... maybe because I'm still not clear with the method by which the OP is saving the product number... that, to me, would be one of the important items needing an answer before solutions could be provided; unlike how they are being tossed around right now, all willy-nilly.
Sorry not to have responded sooner. This is a "potential" project - still waiting to hear from client as to whether we are REALLY going to do it and then thought I'd ask more questions! I'm assuming there is a database that the "search" will draw from. I looked at the arca database extra and it seems to be capable of doing the job. Would you agree?
