2. Re: Rendering several exports at one time
Mark Mapes Oct 31, 2013 12:02 PM (in response to Soshman)If I'm understanding correctly, you're asking two distinct questions here:
- Can I send export jobs to another program so that Premiere Pro is not locked up while encoding?
Yes. In Export Settings, click Queue. That sends the job to Adobe Media Encoder [AME]. - Can Premiere Pro or AME encode multiple jobs simultaneously.
No. Both apps encode only one source at a time. However, if you queue a series of jobs in AME, it will process each of them in turn without any user action. [Also, in AME you can set up a single source with multiple outputs. In that case, AME encodes all of the outputs simultaneously.]

3. Re: Rendering several exports at one time
cc_merchant Oct 31, 2013 12:04 PM (in response to Mark Mapes)simultaneously consecutively.

4. Re: Rendering several exports at one time
JSS1138 Oct 31, 2013 12:17 PM (in response to cc_merchant)No, Mark was right. If you set things up correctly, AME can encode two versions of the same sequence at the same time, basically a render once, transcode twice operation.

5. Re: Rendering several exports at one time
Mark Mapes Oct 31, 2013 12:35 PM (in response to JSS1138)There are a few exceptions to AME's ability to simultaneously encode multiple outputs of a given source--cases where encoding would fail in one fashion or another due. One such case is when two or more outputs use Dolby. I seem to recall that there are one or two other exceptions, but the specifics elude me.
Here's what the Queue looks like when you have a source set up with multiple outputs. And the super slick thing is that you can achieve this type of one-to-many job in a single step: drag and drop the sequence(s) from PPRO's Project panel to a custom bin in AME's Preset Browser (like "My Favorite Presets" in the screenshot)

6. Re: Rendering several exports at one time
Soshman Oct 31, 2013 1:02 PM (in response to Mark Mapes)Thanks for all the information!
So i am putting them in the Queue and i can see they automatically go to adobe media encoder.
I have three in there so far
Can i run the media encoder while still editing without screwing anything up?
Can i add a new edit to the queue while AME is encoding?
Thanks again!

7. Re: Rendering several exports at one time
JSS1138 Oct 31, 2013 7:40 PM (in response to Soshman)Yes to both.
However, working in PP while AME is running can slow down the export process under some conditions.

8. Re: Rendering several exports at one time
Soshman Oct 31, 2013 10:40 PM (in response to JSS1138)Thanks!
I decided to wait until now to do it at bedtime. I have about 25 videos so i imagine 15 hours or so
Man if this works as it is supposed to....it will sure save me some time.
And the time it has cost me in the past not knowing about this....geesh!
It was great to just keep editing and Queueing ......long day though 14 hours of straight editing...even ate while editing.
Maybe a balance :-)
Appreciate the help all!
