I am trying to install Flash Player and continue to get the Failed to Register error. I have windows 7 Home Premium on a 64 bit system. This all started when I had a system crash which led me to restore the computer to an earlier point (just a few days prior). Everything came back fine except flash player. When I go to control panel it shows Flash Player 32 bit icon and control panel but no matter what site I go to it says Flash Player is not installed. I have had no issues installing any other new software, updates to software of windows updates since I did the restore point. I am trying to avoid doing a full system recovery because I have too much data to back up. Please help.
Download the following files by right clicking and selecting "Save target as"
Save ALL files to your Downloads folder - DO NOT RUN anything yet.
Reboot your system.
BEFORE opening anything else, go to your Downloads folder and run the UNINSTALLER to remove all instances of Flash Player.
Next, run the ActiveX Installer.
Lastly, run the Installer for other browsers.
Once Flash Player is installed go to: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/#sp
Download BOTH files, the one on the right FIRST by right clicking and selecting "Save target as"... the other by clicking and following the steps to dwonload the FULL ActiveX installer.
Once everything is installed, see:Enabling Flash Player in Internet Explorer and: ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer to make 100% sure that Flash Player is enabled and NOT being blocked by ActiveX controls.
