1. Re: Going to burn a 8.5gb data disc with .mp4 files
Stan Jones Nov 12, 2013 4:21 PM (in response to Soshman)Can i do this in Encore?
Even if you could, you wouldn't want to. You are not creating video DVDs, you are creating data disks with files that you can play on a computer (and yes, some TVs, but I don't know if you can from a disk).
Keep it simple; use ImgBurn or a PC or Mac disk writing utility to create the first version.
I'm sure there's some way that a 100 disk run can run into problems; you're using a service to burn them or to press them?

Soshman Nov 12, 2013 4:28 PM (in response to Stan Jones)Hello Stan!
We are making data disks instead of proper DVD's.
There are many gb's of data and the people i am doing it for dont want to make all the regular dvd's
and dont want to have people download all the .mp4s i made.
They are ok putting the .mp4s as data that folks can download directly to their computers and watch
Yes we have a company out of LA that does duplication for us. We have used them over the last year with great success.
I did a data CD with them in the spring and it came out great.
I just have never done a 8.5 gb data dvd and wonder if it the same as a 4.7 and was wondering if Encore could do it....but it sounds like you are saying just use a disk writing utility instead?
Thanks Stan!

3. Re: Going to burn a 8.5gb data disc with .mp4 files
Stan Jones Nov 12, 2013 4:37 PM (in response to Soshman)I think you are right to ask; I do not know enough about the issues in dealing with this strictly as a data disk. There is a layer break involved. If no other responses, here, poke around here:

7. Re: Going to burn a 8.5gb data disc with .mp4 files
John T Smith Nov 12, 2013 9:26 PM (in response to Soshman)Tell Imgburn to use the slowest possible burn speed, so the burned "pits" have burn time to be "well formed"
Note that other people say it is not important to burn slow... I always use the slowest possible burn speed, and have zero playback problems... YMMV

Soshman Nov 12, 2013 9:30 PM (in response to John T Smith)Thanks John!
An editor i used for a few years used to tell me that over and over.
Like you...He said it made for less or zero errors
On a master i follow that rule to the tee!
I appreciate the reminder :-)
