Did this happen because you changed to Mavericks, or did it work OK with 10.9 then fail?
Yes I switched to Mavericks. I has worked after I did an update and now today it's crashing all the time... which is why I don't undertsand what is happening.
If I knew how to get a crash log I will post that (if that's possible)
CS3 is a prettly old program and may not be compatable with newest OS.
But on a more positive note more crashes, rather than freezes, are from drivers, 3rd party fonds and plugins. Since you have a mac you are kind of stuck on the drivers as they are part of OS. Do you have any 3rd party fonts or plugins?
I have 3rd party fonts yes, that I have downloaded and installed.
Thanks, still doesn't make sense why it worked last week and doesn't today - unless it takes time for the program to pick up on an issue?
It may be an older version but it does exactly what I need it to do
So, I may be SOL?
The recent update in OS changes things. It is possible that in now does not llike one of your fonts. Try unlinking the fonts and see if that solves problem. If it does then you just have to figure out which one.
I would not expect CS3 to work with Mavericks due to the age of the application. Unfortunately you will more than like nee to upgrade to CS6 or heaven forbid, CC. I would avoid CC though personally.
Cs3 is past its prime.
Thanks for the responses....
upgrading I'm not oppose to at all - will I have to buy outright CS6 or can it be an addon to CS3? (like an update).
Sorry for the questions (I use the program EVERYDAY with work but don't know about updates and the like)
You would have to buy it outright. CS3 is too old to upgrade to CS6. However, Adobe has a grace period for subscription so CS3 qualifies for the cheap rate, think it is $10/month for 1st year.
The other option is to go back to the OS that worked well before.
