Does the MacBook Air have the Maverick operating system? If so, lots of problems with that and Premiere Elements and other.
Apple and Adobe I believe are working on the reported problems.
I am strictly an Elements Windows person, but I believe that the focus is the Maverick OS and Adobe rather than just Maverick OS and Premiere Elements 12. Have you used any other version of Premiere Elements on this MacBook Air?
I downloaded Premiere Elements 12 Mac from Adobe download.
Yes, I'm running Mavericks.
No, I've not used Premiere Elements on this MacBook Air. I downloaded it so I could try it out, to compare with iMovie, which I have been using for years but always wondered what Premiere would be like.
I never used the "Cover Flow" view.

The basics seem to hold true for Elements Windows or Mac
a. Have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements
b. Run the program as Run As Administrator or from a User Account with Administrative Privileges.
I was one of the people who had issues with Mavericks, this seemed to be strickly related to the App store version of Premiere Elements. Once I downloaded Premiere Elements 12 from Adobe it worked fine (macbook air 2013 11").
So I don't think it's directly related to Mavericks.
Thanks for that information. Great help in focusing in on troubleshooting strategy.
